My Portfolio

First let's talk a little bit about what I do here. I have been developing website for myself, friends and family for the past few years now. In that time I have developed a number of websites. A selection of my creations can be viewed in more detail by clicking on the projects on the right.

My Work

Every website I create is done exact to customer specifications, during the design process I might make suggestions but in the end this is your baby and as always the customer knows best. All coding is carried out with W3C specifications in mind, this will ensure your site will display correctly for years to come.

The benefits to you of a standards compliant website include the following:

• A larger audience will be able to view your site due to it displaying correctly in all available browsers and screen readers
• The speed of your site will be greatly increased compared to an old tables based design, mainly due to the decrease in bloat code
• Legislation in forever changing and websites are the next target. If your site is not accessible to all users including users of screen reader devices then you could be at risk from legal action

Accessibility

I'm a big believer in coding to standards in all my web creations; I have covered this area extensively over the last year as this was the subject of my final year thesis. Researching this area has greatly opened my eyes to web design and the way I code. In the past it was often tempting to take the easy way out and whip up a solution within hours using all sorts of hacks and shortcuts, but why take shortcuts when the end result can be much more rewarding to both the designer and the client.
